The Times Of India, has carried a news report from Ranchi, dated 19th June 2013, about the protests raised by  the Sarna Society, of Jharkhand. The Dharmaguru  Shri.Bandhan Tigga, has protested the unveiling of a statue(idol) of  Mother Mary, wherein she is wearing a white saree with a red border. Her features have also been modified to look like that of a tribal.
The Sarna Society, has raised their voice against this foreign lady being shown wearing a saree. A saree is a Hindu dress worn by Hindu women. The white saree with a red border is used by women of the Sarna Community on auspicious occasions.

The Dharmaguru, has rightly protested "If the idol of Mother Mary is shown in the dress of a tribal woman, then 100 years from now people will think Mother Mary was a tribal from Jharkhand". The Sarna society is demanding the removal of the statue (idol), as they feel that it is a trick to convert their community.

The local Cardinal (converter) Mr.Telesphor P Toppo, has defended  the sari wearing foreign lady's idol, claiming that tribal Christians have equal rights to the sari. What this Converter failed to understand is that people are protesting the Jewish lady's idol being draped in a Hindu sari. The Jewish lady would never have dressed herself in such a garment, so is it correct to drape her idol in a foreign garment ?

What is note worthy is the protest against such distortions being made by foreign religions trying to masquerade as local religions by appropriating (more correctly, Stealing) their way of worship and religious symbols. In Kerala and elsewhere in South India we are daily witnessing how the Dhwajastambha, Nilavilakku and Kuthuvilakku, panchavadyam, Bharathanatyam dances have all been cloned to give the Jew a Hindu look and feel.

Traditional Hindu temple prasadams  like ladoo, Kheer(Payasam) are all being distributed in the Church. Are these their religious beliefs and practices. Many convert Padres arrange receptions for themselves using Punakumbham. Should we permit such degradation of our religion ? These are the people who derided our religion, culture, rituals as mythology and superstition, why are they wanting to imitate it ? Is it a new clandestine conversion modus operandi ? In Tamilnadu also one can see idols of the Jewish lady in Kancheepuram saree.

The Sarna society must be congratulated for voicing their protest and threatening to raise an agitation against such malpractices. Hindus in Kerala and other States should also protest against such wanton distortion by missionary gangs.
